Our Commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Access
The Dempsey Center provides a haven of support where anyone whose world is disrupted by cancer can regain a sense of control and begin to make sense of their new normal.
We are passionate about wellbeing—for our clients, staff, Board, volunteers, donors, and greater Dempsey Center community. To that end, we are committed to building a culture of belonging that reflects all people affected by cancer and where members of every age, race, national origin, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, ability, and religion feel welcome, seen, heard, and supported.
Reproductive Health Statement
The Dempsey Center joins in the statements issued by other organizations dedicated to the fight against cancer, such as the American Cancer Society (statement here) and the Association for American Cancer Institutes (AACI).
In particular: As a nonprofit entity whose mission is to make life better for people impacted by cancer, the Dempsey Center is not taking sides on the Supreme Court recent decision. We believe that everyone, no matter where they live, should have a fair and just opportunity to prevent, find, treat, and survive cancer. The Dempsey Center opposes any action that results in limiting the number of facilities or clinics where people can receive access to affordable cancer screening, or that impedes or undermines early diagnosis of cancer, evidence-based cancer treatment, or fertility preservation. Further, the Dempsey Center opposes any action that may negatively impact cancer patients and their families, especially where here, it may disproportionately affect communities of color.
To achieve our mission, the Dempsey Center is committed to the delivery of evidence-based, integrative cancer care. Consistent with the Dempsey Center model of diversity, equity, inclusion, and access, we will continue to commit to providing a safe haven for all cancer patients and their loved ones, regardless of their medical choices with respect to reproductive care.
